This event is a highlight for this season, as members that attended this event last year will know this ground lends its self to our hobby. So much so that, it has been decided that for this weekend we will putting on something very special. The ACWS are attending, along with The 9th New York Cavalry, Members of Lorado and various progressive groups. Throughout the weekend a civilian tented village is planed this will include, a second-hand period store, members will be able to bring along and sell in the store, but remember this is a period impression so nothing modern please. Other activities within the village will be going on through out the weekend. All our civilians are encouraged to take part in this. For details see Steve Bolton. This could be the start of something very good for SOSKAN if everyone can cooperate and give it a chance.

During the 2nd day of Gettysburg!
Things were stirring early. Not all the union troops had arrived at Gettysburg as yet; the long columns of blue were still poring in to the area. Gen. Dan Sickles took things into his own hands and moved his Third Cops out of the assigned positions on the Union left and forwards to the area of the Peach Orchard and Devils Den to an exposed position. Lea wanted Longstreet to attack this salient on the Union left, Longstreet opposed the plan. Fortunately Major Gen. Warren, the Chief Engineer of the Army of the Potomac, rode to the Little Round Top, recognised that disaster was waiting for the left flank unless something was done. He sent aides to pull troops of the road and send them to the hill. Meanwhile, Longstreet sent his Confederates against Sickles’ men and drove them from the Peach Orchard and Devil’s Den to the crest of Cemetery Ridge.
This is where we resume the bloody battle, on Little Round Top!Sunday 27th May 10 AM.
